Mohammad Reza Mawdudi, while confirming the 55% ceiling of import tariffs next year, said: Reducing the tariff ceiling to 55% does not mean that no goods will be imported higher than this tariff, but other tools such as taxes and duties, restrictions for some goods Will create consumption.
He added: “Reducing the ceiling on tariffs and tariff classes and international negotiations is considered as a privilege that we can use in these negotiations, and at the same time using restrictive tools to take a stricter look at the import of consumer goods and some goods that are similar to domestic.” , Have.
“The important thing is that sooner or later we have to join the World Trade Organization (WTO), because we are one of the few big countries that are still in the WTO,” Mawdudi said. We are not global, and this link requires us to move our tariffs to international standards, and to keep in mind that the higher the tariffs, the more attractive the smuggling of goods.
Regarding the smuggling of agricultural products, the deputy head of the Trade Development Organization said: “Legally, the Trade Development Organization is not allowed to impose any restrictions on the import of any product except through tariffs, except in cases that are legally objectionable or imported from occupied Palestine.” Agricultural products are an exception; In order to support the country’s agriculture, the Ministry of Jihad for Agriculture, as the person in charge of importing and exporting these products, can even ban the import of some products.
