The meeting of the Anti-Trafficking Headquarters was held on Wednesday evening, chaired by the First Vice President.

Recalling that smuggling in the textile and clothing sector causes the greatest damage to domestic production, the first vice president called for a more serious focus of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade and the country’s law enforcement and security agencies on the main smuggling items, especially textiles. Referring to the implementation of one of the resolutions of the previous meetings on the temporary import of gold and its conversion into gold artifacts for export, the first vice president said: “Gold smuggling has always been one of the main concerns of the country, but fortunately with proper policy and through Temporary import of gold and its conversion into artifacts and jewelry for export, important work was done in this field and the obstacles in front of it were removed, which I hope will see an increase in employment and exports in this sector.
He expressed hope that with the decisions taken regarding the temporary import of gold and its conversion into artifacts and jewelry for re-export, we will see the removal of gold from the list of smuggled goods in the country.
Dr. Jahangiri also referred to another issue raised in the meeting regarding the destruction of smuggled goods, said: “According to existing laws and regulations and the emphasis of the Supreme Leader, the first priority is to eliminate and destroy smuggled goods and prevent it. It is the distribution of these items that will definitely harm the country’s production.
The First Vice President mentioned the development of exports and the fight against smuggling as the main ways to support domestic production and said: “Unfortunately, some cumbersome licenses and regulations make the development of exports slow, which is necessary for the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance.” And revoke licenses that impede the development of exports.
In this meeting, the Ministers of Interior, Justice, Industry, Mines and Trade, Agricultural Jihad, Communications and Information Technology, Head of the Radio and Television Organization, Commander of the Police Force, Director General of Customs, Head of Trade Development Organization, Head of Governmental Punishment Organization and Head of Food Organization And medicine were also present, a report on the proposed plans to prevent mobile phone smuggling was presented by a representative of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and after discussion, it was decided that the ministry in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade and Involve other relevant agencies to develop a comprehensive plan for this purpose and submit it to the headquarters within the timeframe set for final approval.
The Minister of Communications and Information Technology, emphasizing that this ministry will give all its technical resources to the plan to prevent mobile phone smuggling, added: “We are seriously pursuing the issue of preventing mobile phone smuggling and its results in meetings.” We will announce the future.
In the continuation of this meeting, the representative of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade also presented a report on the programs and measures taken to combat smuggling of goods in the textile and clothing sector and explained a report on the available statistics on smuggling of these items and macro plans. At the end of the meeting, a report was presented by the Secretariat of the Headquarters and Customs of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the amount of smuggled goods to the country and it was announced that in 1994 the amount of smuggled goods was about 15 billion dollars.
