International protection or IP according to Iranian standard 2868 and IEC529
What does the word IP mean?
Based on Iranian standard 2868 and IEC529
Degree of protection of sensors and instrumentation devices in terms of penetration of water and foreign objects as well as resistance to external shocks based on IP number according to Iranian standard 2868 is classified as coating grades in electrical appliances or IEC529.
The letters I and P mean international protection and stands for International Protection, which comes with a 2-digit or 3-digit number.
– The first digit indicates the protection of persons against contact with electrical parts and the intrusion of foreign objects.
– The second digit is a characteristic of the degree of protection of persons against water intrusion.
– The third digit indicates the degree of protection against impact or impact of foreign objects on the device.

Number 1: Protection against hard objects larger than 50 mm
Number 2: Protection against hard objects larger than 12 mm

Number 6: Impenetrable to dust
