Arrest of some customs employees and the Ports Authority

A spokesman for the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Trafficking Headquarters said: “More than 98 containers have been smuggled in this case so far.” Also, some employees of the Ports and Maritime Organization and the contracting companies of the Ports Organization are among those arrested in this case.

He said: “Organized and large-scale smuggling is not possible without the intervention and collusion of the employees of the responsible agencies in official bases.”
The spokesman of the Anti-Trafficking Headquarters added: “The use of electronic systems has been done with the approach of reducing the number of client visits to the customs, so that the clearance process can be done without the presence of the owners of the goods and by remote declaration.”
