According to the ISNA correspondent, customs statistics on Iran’s non-oil exports during the first six months of this year show that although saffron exports in bulk, ie in packages of more than 30 grams, have experienced a 60% increase in weight, they are ready to export saffron in small packages. Retail sales have dropped by more than 30 percent.
While Iran is one of the largest producers and exporters of saffron and about 35 countries are buyers of this product, in the first half of this year, the sale of saffron in total for the country has been valued at $ 78 million.
Statistics show that by volume, saffron sales were worth less than $ 36 million in bulk and less than $ 42 million in ready-to-sell packages, while the price of bulk saffron this year was about $ 200 compared to the same period last year. The dollar and the price of saffron in 30-gram packages have risen by about $ 20.
Also, a statistical comparison between the amount of saffron exports during the first half of this year and the same period last year shows that the amount of saffron exports in the volume of more than 30 grams has increased by more than 60% in weight and 85% in value.
Meanwhile, in the same comparison, saffron exports in packages of 10 to 30 grams in terms of weight and value show a decrease of more than 30%.
Spain is the largest customer of Iranian saffron
Pakistan, China, Japan, Argentina, Germany, Spain, Australia, Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Italy, Bahrain, Belgium, Thailand, Taiwan, Turkey, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Oman, France Qatar, Canada, Kuwait, Poland, Malaysia, Hungary, Mauritius, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, India, South Africa and Greece are among the saffron customers from Iran.
Spain, meanwhile, is the largest buyer of Iranian bulk saffron, buying 13 tons of saffron in a package of more than 30 grams, followed by the UAE, Afghanistan, China and Italy.
But among the buyers of packaged saffron, the UAE is the largest customer with more than 18 tons of ready-to-sell saffron, followed by China and Saudi Arabia, which have bought 4 tons of ready-to-sell saffron from Iran in the past six months. .
