Simultaneous reduction of import tariffs on clothing and textiles

Simultaneous reduction of clothing and textile import tariffs: In order to support the production sector, reduce clothing prices and also prevent smuggling, reduce clothing import tariffs by 20% from 75% to 55% while simultaneously reducing fabric import tariffs by 40% from 40% to 32% were on the agenda.

Accordingly, the director of the Research Center of Tehran Garment Trade Unions regarding the reduction of clothing import tariff from 75% to 35% and the consequences of this decision stated: The clothing import tariff in March 2014 was 200%, followed by April 2015, respectively. The director of the Research Center of Tehran Garment Trade Unions, announcing that the reduction of clothing import tariff has been accompanied by a reduction in fabric import tariff, said: Simultaneous import tariff has been reduced from 40% to 32% and this will cause raw materials to cost more. Produce less space for producers and production space so that producers can be in a competitive environment with their foreign competitors.
