Import of foreign brands under new customs decisions; Iran’s customs announced the implementation of a new plan by the Ministry of Industry, Customs and the Guilds Center to support official trade. Official agencies, order registration and information are provided to customs.

The customs are obliged to clear the goods only on the basis of the information contained in the order registration that is registered in the order registration system.

One of the most important advantages of this plan is the possibility of registering an order only by official agencies, and with its implementation, it will not be possible to register an order in the name of unrelated persons, including holders of disposable business cards.

This action is possible after the launch of electronic customs in the country and due to the electronicization of all customs procedures and electronic communication between customs and order registration system, there is no obstacle to the implementation of this plan and the information received from the order registration system sits on the comprehensive customs system. And the electronic customs system is also locked on this information.

In this regard, the names of a number of authorized brands that have official representation in the country have been announced to the Customs by the Trade Development Organization.

This action will be taken after the support of the Central Headquarters for Combating Commodity and Currency Smuggling and the agreement of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade with the Guilds and Merchants Affairs Center of Iran. The official agencies of foreign brands should supervise the import and distribution of these brands in the country.

The most important advantage of this protection plan, which is implemented with the participation of the guild center and official agencies of foreign brands in our country, is the official and legal trade and the fight against smuggled goods.

According to Article 8 of the Export and Import Regulations, importers of various goods, both governmental and non-governmental, must apply exclusively to the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade to obtain an import permit and register an order.

Also, according to a note of the same article, agreeing to the import of goods is considered as a clearance permit and there is no need to obtain a separate permit.

The requirement to have an official representative for suppliers of imported goods is also mentioned in Article 4 of the Consumer Protection Law, and accordingly, importers are required to provide after-sales service.

According to Article 4 of the Law on Consumer Protection, all suppliers, including manufacturers and importers of capital goods, including automobiles (heavy or light), industrial machinery, agriculture, road construction, home appliances, electrical and electronic products, audio, video and communication equipment are required to have representation. Authorized and authorized repair shop, supply of spare parts and provide after-sales service.
