He added: “Considering the inventory of 500 thousand tons of durum wheat of the state trading company and also the forecast of buying 600 thousand tons of this type of wheat from farmers in the current crop year, the country’s need for durum wheat can be met from domestic production and therefore the Minister of Jihad O Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade banned the registration of a new order for the import of durum wheat.

According to him, due to the global price of this product, it is not possible to import durum wheat to the country at this price. Referring to the difference in prices and the possibility of importing bread wheat instead of durum wheat, The Seed and Seedling Breeding Institute, as well as the Grain Laboratory of the State Trading Company of Iran, emphasized and suggested that the import tariff on durum wheat be increased by at least 30%.
